Mellanni Extra Deep California King Sheets - 4 PC Iconic Collection Bedding, Hotel Luxury, Ultra Soft, Cooling Review (2026)

Deep pockets for thick mattresses

This set is designed to fit mattresses up to roughly 21 inches deep, well beyond the 12 to 14 inch depth a standard fitted sheet accommodates. That matters for tall sleepers who often pair a thicker mattress with a foundation or platform to gain extra length and height, since a standard sheet either will not stretch over the mattress corners or pops off partway through the night. Mellanni's Iconic Collection uses elastic edging that runs fully around the fitted sheet rather than just at the corners, which helps the sheet stay anchored on a deep mattress through normal movement instead of only being secured at four points.

California King length suits taller frames

Beyond mattress depth, this set is cut for the California King size specifically, which measures longer and narrower than a standard King, a shape chosen by many tall sleepers precisely because it adds several inches of length over a regular King mattress. Buying sheets sized correctly for a Cal King matters because a standard King sheet set will not properly fit a Cal King frame, leaving the fitted sheet stretched too tight lengthwise or loose across the width. Anyone who has already invested in a Cal King mattress for the extra length should make sure their sheets match that exact sizing, which this set is built for.

Brushed microfiber, not cotton

The sheets are made from brushed microfiber rather than woven cotton, which gives a silky, soft hand feel and some moisture-wicking, breathable performance marketed as cooling. Microfiber sheets also tend to resist wrinkling more than cotton, which appeals to anyone who wants a made-bed look without ironing. The trade off is durability over repeated hot washing. Microfiber fibers are more prone to pilling than long-staple cotton when washed on hot cycles or dried on high heat, so the set holds up best with cooler wash temperatures and lower dryer settings, a detail worth planning around from the first wash rather than after pilling starts.

A four piece set covers the basics

The set includes a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillowcases, giving a complete bedding change in one purchase rather than needing to buy pieces separately. That is convenient for anyone setting up a Cal King bed for the first time or replacing a full mismatched set. Because the set is OEKO-TEX certified, meaning it has been tested for harmful substances, it is a reasonable choice for households prioritizing that kind of textile safety certification alongside comfort. The stain, fade, and wrinkle resistant claims common to microfiber sheets generally apply here as well, supporting easier day to day care.

Who should buy this sheet set

This set fits tall sleepers who already have or are considering a California King mattress with significant depth, since the extra deep pocket and correct Cal King sizing solve both length and thickness problems at once. It suits anyone who prefers a soft, wrinkle-resistant microfiber feel over traditional cotton crispness, and households that want a matched four piece set rather than buying a fitted sheet, flat sheet, and pillowcases separately. It is a weaker fit for shoppers who specifically want natural cotton fiber, or who wash bedding on hot cycles regularly, since microfiber is more prone to pilling under those conditions than a comparable cotton set would be over the same number of washes.
