Allewie Cal King Platform Bed Frame with Velvet Upholstered Headboard | Upholstered Bed Frame with Adjustable Headboard, Vertical Channel Tufting, Sturdy Wood Slats, No Box Spring Needed, Cream
A velvet upholstered Cal king frame with a channel-tufted headboard that adjusts between 38 and 42 inches. Solid wood slats on a cross-braced metal frame.
A California king mattress is 72 by 84 inches, four inches longer than a standard king, which is why many very tall sleepers choose it. The frame matters as much as the mattress: a footboard can eat into that length, a low headboard gives nothing to lean on, and a cheap slat system sags under a big mattress. This guide compares six California king frames from plain steel platforms to upholstered and storage beds. We look at the listed headboard height, clearance under the frame, slat support and what each includes, so you can match the frame to your room and your height.

#1A Cal king wooden storage bed with a 51.2 inch bookcase headboard, 4 under-bed drawers, a charging station and RGB lights. Listed capacity is 1300 lbs.
Fit for the job 8/10 · Features and specs 9/10 · Build and materials 7/10 · Value 7/10
- + A 51.2 inch three-tier headboard holds books, glasses and a phone within reach
- + Four deep drawers add storage without needing separate dressers
- + Fifteen metal slats and 11 legs are listed with a 1300 lb capacity
- - Ships in two boxes and has many parts, so assembly takes longer than a simple metal frame
- - Drawers and bookcase make it bulky, so measure your room before you order a Cal king footprint
#2A velvet upholstered Cal king frame with a channel-tufted headboard that adjusts between 38 and 42 inches. Solid wood slats on a cross-braced metal frame.
Fit for the job 8/10 · Features and specs 8/10 · Build and materials 7/10 · Value 7/10
- + Headboard adjusts from 38 to 42 inches, so it can match mattresses of different thickness
- + Cross-braced metal frame with solid wood slats and no box spring needed
- + Under-bed clearance fits shoes and small storage boxes and leaves room to clean
- - The headboard stays under 43 inches, so very tall sleepers may want a taller option for sitting up
- - Velvet upholstery is a softer finish than metal or wood and may need regular cleaning
#3A linen upholstered Cal king platform bed with a 3-level adjustable headboard from 39 to 43 inches. Metal frame, wood slats and a middle support leg.
Fit for the job 8/10 · Features and specs 7/10 · Build and materials 7/10 · Value 8/10
- + Three headboard heights from 39 to 43 inches suit mattresses from 8 to 14 inches thick
- + Middle leg support is listed to prevent sagging across the 84 inch length
- + All parts and tools come in one box, and no box spring is needed
- - The tallest setting is 43 inches, which is lower than the wingback and bookcase styles in this guide
- - Neutral linen look only, with no built-in storage or charging
#4A 14 inch black steel platform frame listed at 83.6 x 71.6 inches with 9 legs and no box spring needed. A plain, low-cost base for a Cal king mattress.
Fit for the job 8/10 · Features and specs 6/10 · Build and materials 7/10 · Value 9/10
- + Steel slat platform is listed as supporting up to 3000 lbs, enough for a heavy mattress and two sleepers
- + Nine support legs spread the load, which helps stop the center from sagging under a large mattress
- + No headboard or footboard attached, so nothing cuts into the 84 inch sleeping length; legs have holes to add one later
- - No headboard is included, so you have nothing to lean against when reading in bed
- - At 14 inches high with a listed 83.6 inch length, it sits lower than the 18 inch frames if getting up matters to you
#5A Cal king upholstered platform bed with a 50.8 inch corduroy wingback headboard, solid wood slats and center support. Tall enough to lean on when sitting up.
Fit for the job 9/10 · Features and specs 7/10 · Build and materials 7/10 · Value 6/10
- + The 50.8 inch headboard is the tallest upholstered one here, a real backrest for taller torsos
- + Solid wood slats with center support, and EVA foam listed to reduce slat noise
- + Solid wood legs and a clear listing of what is included, including hardware and manual
- - Only 4.5 inches of under-bed clearance, so there is little room for storage underneath
- - Listing recommends two adults for assembly, and it is the priciest of the upholstered frames here
#6An 18 inch metal platform frame in Cal king with open space underneath for storage. The extra height makes it easier to stand up from for longer legs.
Fit for the job 8/10 · Features and specs 6/10 · Build and materials 6/10 · Value 9/10
- + The 18 inch height gives a higher seat edge, which is easier on long legs when sitting up and standing
- + Large under-bed space for bins, luggage and seasonal items, with no box spring needed
- + Legs reserve holes for connecting a headboard or footboard, so you can add one to suit your height
- - Sold by a brand with a limited listing, and the bullets give no weight capacity figure
- - Plain metal look with no headboard, so it suits a minimal room better than a styled one
