Tall sizing and big sizing solve different problems, and buying the wrong one is why so many shirts still ride up. A tall size adds roughly two to three inches of body length and a little sleeve, holding the chest and waist close to the regular fit, whereas a big size, including the 10XL end of the range, adds girth without adding much length at all. A lean six foot five frame needs the first, not the second. Once you are in tall sizing, shrinkage decides whether the fit survives, because a 100% cotton tee can lose an inch or more of length in a hot wash and that inch is exactly the one you paid for. Preshrunk or shrink-resistant treatments, ring-spun cotton, and lighter weights all shrink less; heavy untreated cotton shrinks most. Check where the hem is meant to sit, since a tall tee should tuck without pulling free when you raise your arms, and check the shoulder seam, which on a poorly graded tall cut lands halfway down the upper arm. On long-sleeve versions the sleeve length is a separate grade from body length and is often the part left short, so it deserves its own look.
