Best Gaming Chairs for Tall People

Most gaming chairs are built around a user of roughly 5 foot 10, and the mismatch shows up in three measurements that listings rarely put up front. Backrest height is the first: if the top of the backrest sits below your shoulder blades, the headrest lands on your neck instead of your head and the lumbar bolster pushes into your kidneys rather than the small of your back. Look for a backrest around 33 inches or more and treat a chair advertised only by overall height with suspicion, since that figure includes the base and gas lift. Seat depth is the second, and it needs to be long enough to support most of your thigh without the front edge cutting behind your knee; taller users generally want 20 inches or more of usable depth. The third is the gas lift travel, because a chair that fits your torso is useless if it cannot rise enough to clear your desk. On construction, the 400 to 440 lb capacity ratings in this category are not really about weight so much as build quality: a steel or aluminium five-star base, a class 4 gas lift, and a welded steel frame are what stop a chair developing a lean under a taller, longer-levered user. Pocket-spring seat cushions hold their shape far better than cut foam over a year of daily use, and a footrest is the one feature you can safely ignore, since a tall user sitting correctly will have both feet on the floor anyway.
